Govt. T. Romana College celebrated National Sports day on the 29th August 2024 at Rusa Hall. The programme was organised by IQAC,GTRC and Sports Club, GTRC. NSS, GTRC Unit sponsored the programme. The theme of this year's sports day is Sport for the Promotion of Peaceful and Inclusive Societies. The programme was chaired by Mrs. Ramdinliani, Chairman Sports Club, GTRC. The College also felicited two students 1) Laldingliana V Semester English Core for his outstanding achievement in earning Gold (2023) and Silver (2024) in the National Armwresting and Para Armwresting Championships and 2) PT Helly Vanlalliana III Semester Political Science for his outstanding achievement in Volleyball in various State-level Championship Tournaments and for earning the tittle of Best Player in MSU cup. Various Mizo sport item competition was organised among the students.
Govt. T. Romana College celebrated Pre-Independence Day at the College ground on 14th August, 2024. Celebration of Independence Day has always been an important event organised by the College annually on 14th August every year. Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, Principal hoisted the National Flag, which was followed by singing of the National Anthem. In her speech, the Principal elaborates 'Viksit Bharat 2047' and encourage the students of GTRC to be part of Developed India by contributing in nation's building. The function was chaired by Dr. Sakhawliana, IQAC Asst. Coordinator and it was attended by the students and staffs of the college.
Dr. Vanlalthlana, Minister H&TE, inauguarated Govt. T. Romana College Administrative Building (Faculty Room) and New Age learning Centre on August 12, 2024. The inaugural function was chaired by Prof. Malsawmliana, Secretary of the College Infrastructure Committee. Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, Principal delivered a welcome address and briefly highlighted the progress made by the college through the collective efforts of the staffs and the students. Dr. Vanlalthlana, the chief guest addressed the gathering and congratulates the staff and the students on their contribution to the progress of the college. He further motivated the student to study hard and make the best used of the new technology in education. The Chief Guest also donated Rs. 10,000/- from his discretionary funds for the procurement of books for the college UPSC Center. The inaugural function ended with a prayer from Dr. Lalhmachhuana.
The College faculty room was constructed by vertically extending the Administrative Building. Construction of another two floors has been in progress. Majority of the construction funds comes from donation continuously contributed by the staff (teaching and non-teaching) of the college from their salary. The New Age learning Centre was installed in the College Library and the project was initiated by the Aizawl Smart City Limited to developed the public library including the colleges.
As part of their joint efforts, the Anti-Tobacco Cell at Government T Romana College and National Tobacco Control Programme, Mizoram organized an Anti-Tobacco Awareness Programme on the college campus on 09th August, 2024.The programme was divided into two parallel sessions. Dr. Lalhmachhuana, Chairman,GTRC Anti-Tobacco Cell, presided over the first session. The resource person was Dr. C. Lalremruati, District Consultant for National Tobacco Control Programme, Aizawl East.
Dr. Sakhawliana chaired the other session, and the resource person was Ms. Rebecca Lalruatfeli Hnamte, Psychologist, Aizawl East, National Tobacco Control Programme, Mizoram.
The Resource persons delivered lectures on the harmful effects of tobacco use and abuse on our health and the environment in both sessions. Their personal experiences with tobacco misuse in our society were shared amongst the participant groups. They urged the student to abstain from tobacco use. More than 300 students participated in the programme. Participants also pledge to support an anti-tobacco campaign.
Govt. T. Romana College appreciated the programme and applauded the efforts of the National Tobacco Control Programme. The Mizoram National Tobacco Control Programme has decided to organise more Anti-Tobacco campaigns at GTRC shortly. As a consequence of the programme, the College has been designated as a "Tobacco-free campus". As suggested by the National Tobacco Control Programme, the Cell decided to organise more programmes within the Campus.
Mr. Lalengmawia, IAS, the Commissioner of Higher and Technical Education, paid a visit to Govt. T. Romana College on May 13, 2025. The Commissioner was accompanied by some officials from the Secretariat and the Directorate of Higher and Technical Education. A brief meeting was held in the Meeting Hall to extend a warm welcome to the Commissioner and his team. The meeting was chaired by Mr. R. Lalremliana, Vice-Principal of Government T. Romana College, who welcomed the Commissioner and the other officials and provided a brief overview of the College’s history.
6th semester students of the department of Public Administration, Govt T.Romana College attended training on Suntainable Life Skill: Rural Development Schemes at the SIRD&PR Auditorium on 4th April, 2025.
On 14th May 2025, Dept of Political Science, 6th Semester students and Faculties organized Voluntary works in Cleanliness and Beautification of College Campus with a focus to enhance the cleanliness and beautification of the College . Weeding, planting flowers and maintaining existing flowerbeds in different places within the College were done hoping to add vibrancy to the Campus landscape.
The Department of English, Govt. T. Romana College organised ‘Awareness on NEP 2020 for 4th and 6th Semester Parents’ on April 9, 2025. The programme was attended by 42 parents of the 2nd and 4th Semesters NEP students. The primary objective of the programme was to familiarise parents of the NEP students with the key aspects of the National Education Policy 2020, along with the new subject combinations offered under NEP.
The Awareness programme commenced at 1:00 pm. The Chairperson, Dr. Lalrinmawii Tochhawng, Associate Professor, Department of English started the programme with an introduction of the faculty members in the Department of English.
A collaborative meeting of the IQAC Coordinators and Alumni was held on 16.05.2025 at 11:00 A.M at the Meeting Hall, Govt. T. Romana College. The Principal, the IQAC Coordinators and eight Alumni members, including the President and the Alumni Secretary, were present. The Joint meeting aimed to enhance the consolidation and coordination between the IQAC and the Alumni. The meeting was presided over by Dr. Dorothy Zonunsangi, Coordinator, IQAC.
An awareness campaign on HIV/AIDS was held at the college campus by the Red Ribbon Club, Govt T. Romana College, in collaboration with the MSACS on the 5th March, 2025. The Resource Person was the Deputy Director of the Red Ribbon Club, Mrs. Lalneihzeli Sailo. She gave an awareness lecture regarding HIV/AIDS to the students.
