On July 21, 2010, Dr H.L. Malsawma, Director, Higher & Technical Education Department, Government of Mizoram inaugurated the various UGC Centres established in the College. These Centres include the Computer Learning Centre and Mobile Repairing and Learning Centre under the Career Oriented Programme and several other centres under the 14 merged schemes including the Coaching Centre for Entry into Services, Remedial Coaching Class, Career and Counseling Cell.
Besides these Centres the Director also inaugurated the newly constructed office of the National Service Scheme(NSS), Govt. T.Romana College Unit.
The inauguration function, held at the Faculty Common Room was chaired by the Principal, Dr F. Lalhmingsanga and was graced by Dr H.L. Malsawma as Chief Guest. The Principal introduced the newly appointed Coordinators of the various Centres and Adviser of the Equal Opportunity Cell to the Chief Guest and gave technical reports on the newly established UGC Centres.
These Centres are funded by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi through the grants received under the ‘Career Oriented Programme’ and the ‘Merged Schemes.
With the emerging globalisation of education and economy, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has also reshaped its policies and programmes to make them more relevant and career-oriented with focus on quality and excellence. In such endeavor the UGC has selected Govt. T.Romana College to establish a new centre for learning mobile phone service and repairing from the academic session 2010-2011.
The Centre will offer a six months Certificate Course in Mobile Phone Service and Repairing. The Course Syllabus, as per guidelines of the UGC, is prepared keeping in view the subject specific academic needs and market requirements, with the help of the subject experts. The Course Syllabus has been submitted to the College Development Council (CDC) and is presently awaiting approval from the Academic Council of the Mizoram University. The institution has appointed Mr C.V.L. Tlanhlua, Lecturer, Department of Public Administration to be the Coordinator of the new Centre.
The Objective of the Centre is to introduce Mobile Phone related career through market-oriented, skill enhancing add-on courses that have utility for job, self-employment and empowerment of the students. At the end of three years, the students will be equipped with a Certificate/Diploma/Advanced diploma in Mobile Phone repairing as an add-on orientation course along with the conventional degree.

State Level Seminar on Mizo History
On July 16, 2009 Govt. T.Romana College organized a One-Day State Level Seminar
on 'Society, Economy and Political History of the Mizo' at I&PR Auditorium, Aizawl, Mizoram in collaboration with Mizo History Association. The Seminar was fully funded by the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi. The Department of History of the College took the initiative in organizing this seminar. The Seminar, inaugurated by Shri Lalsawta, Hon'ble Minister i/c Higher & Technical Education, Mizoram, was attended by historians, academicians, teachers, journalist and students coming from different parts of the State.
The Coordinator of the Seminar was Dr Benjamin Ralte, Lecturer, Department of History and Asst. Coordinator was Mr Malsawmliana, Lecturer, Department of History, Govt. T. Romana College.

The Students' Union of T.Romana College organised Freshers' Social 2009 at Archives Hall , Babutlang on July 14. The function was graced by the Chief Guest Mr Lalrinmawia, IFS, Environment and Forest Department, the Principal Dr F.Lalhmingsanga and several members of the teaching staff. In his speech the Chief Guest addressed the students encouraging them to have positive outlook in their
students' life and to emulate him. The Chief Guest further spoke about Global Warming and Climate Change, calling the students to be aware of these environmental concerns. The Chief Guest also presented the Lilipuii Award, Tlangchuhthanga Award, R.Kapenga Award and L.Biakchhungi Award to outstanding students for their achievement in the last University Examination.
The Principal Dr F.Lalhmingsanga, in his speech, addressed the fresh students to remember and stick to their responsibilities of learning. He welcomed the new students and told them to feel at home in the College. The Second Session started from 1:00 P.M. with much entertainment.

Vanlalruatfela 4th Semester participated in the 16th Junior National Bodybuilding Championship held in Hyderabad, Telangana, as he secured a National Bronze Medal. 🏅
This achievement marks a historic milestone as it is the first time a Mizo athlete has won a national-level medal in this competition. By ushering in this new chapter for the Mizo community, he has brought us great pride. We extend our heartiest congratulations to him on this significant success.

Govt. T. Romana College, successfully underwent “Energy & Green Audit” on 25 August 2025 to assess the initiative. The college qualified the requirements of Green audit as per A+ Grade. The certificate is valid till August 2028.

A Legal Awareness Programme on Child Friendly Legal Services to Children was successfully conducted on 19th February 2026 (Thursday) at Government T. Romana College. The programme was organised by the Mizoram State Legal Services Authority in collaboration with the Legal Cell, IQAC, and the Department of Sociology of the college.
The primary objective of the programme was to create awareness about child-friendly legal mechanisms, rights of children, and the availability of free legal services. The initiative aimed to educate students and faculty members about the importance of safeguarding children’s rights and ensuring access to justice in a supportive and sensitive manner.
C. Malsawmtluanga of Fourth Semester won the 1st Prize in India's Open Arm Wrestling Competition in Bhogeswari Indoor stadium, Guwahati on the 15th of February, 2026 organised by Clubdowntown.
C. Malsawmtluang had also won the gold medal in the First Inter- College Arm wrestling Competition organised by the college in 2025 .

On February 16, 2026 the Department of Public Administration organised Training of Sustainable Life Skill for students of 6th Semester at the State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD), Mizoram. Three faculty and 43 students participated in the training. This is the third consecutive year for organising such training for students.
It is a tradition in Govt. T.Romana College to observe Valentines Day by creating an awareness on safe sex and promoting celibacy until marriage. The college observed the same on 13th February, 2026 as the 14th of February falls on a Saturday.
