An international Seminar on 'Exploring the History, Culture, and Identity of the Chins' was held at Tourist Lodge, Aizawl from 13th - 15th October, 2008. This was the first ever international seminar held in the state. The event was divided into seven (7) Academic Sessions and thirty three (33) papers ranging from topics relating to ethnicity, identity, ecology, globalization, food, music, etc. were presented. On the Second Day Mr Malsawmliana, Lecturer, Department of History, Govt. T.Romana College also presented a paper on 'The Sacrificial Post of the Chins in Burma and the Lusei: A Comparative Study'.
The Seminar was hosted by the Department of History and Ethnography, Mizoram University and several scholars and academicians from various Universities in India and abroad participated. Some of the notable participants include:
The NSS Unit of T.Romana College organised a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp in the College on 26th September, 2008. On this occasion forty one(41) units of blood were donated by students and staff of the College. The donated blood will support the Blood Bank, Civil Hospital, Aizawl which will be used by needy patients in the hospital. The Blood Donation Camp is one of the regular annual activities of the NSS Unit. NSS P.O. Mr C.V.L. Tlanhlua, who is a senior lecturer from the department of Public Administration expressed his heartfelt appreciation and thanked all the volunteers who donated their precious blood during the Camp.
NSS Unit, Govt. T.Romana College observed NSS Day on 24th September, 2008. During the Programme the Unit organised an awareness campaign on Voluntary Blood Donation in collaboration with the Mizoram State Aids Control Society (MSACS). As many as 400 students attended the programme. The campaign was organised in anticipation of the Voluntary Blood Donation Camp which is scheduled to be held in the College on 26th September, 2008. The Blood Donation Camp will donate blood to Blood Bank, Civil Hospital, Aizawl and is one of the regular annual activities of the NSS Unit.
In addition to this event the Consumer Club and the Red Ribbon Club of T.Romana College distributed Prizes for the winners in Essay and Poetry Writing Competition they conducted earlier. The Consumer Club organised Essay Writing Competition in Mizo on the theme 'Mizote leh Consumer Rights'. The Red Ribbon Club organised poetry competition in Mizo and English on AIDS Awareness.
The 16th College Week has started from 11th August, 2008 and a short opening ceremony was held in College Veng field. The Opening Ceremony was followed by an exhibition football match between the Students' Union leaders and the lecturers which ended with the SU leaders winning the match by 1 : 0. On the first two days, students; grouped into four houses - Blue, White, Red and Yellow, competed in Athletics, Football and Volleyball. On the third day (Wednesday), Judo and Boxing games were conducted in SAI stadium, Mission Veng. On day four indoor games as well as Socio-Cultural items were conducted in the College Hall. On day five Basketball games and Cheraw dance competition were organised in Zarkawt Recreation Centre. On the last day of the College Week (Monday) all remaining indoor items were conducted in the College.
Following a beneficial and successful awareness programme with the UD&PA department, the Sociology department, Govt. T. Romana College took the initiative to hold another awareness programme with the Rural Development Department, with the goal of educating students about the various Rural Development Schemes that are part of their syllabus.
On the initiative taken by the Department of Sociology, Govt. T.Romana College, an awareness programme on selected schemes under the department was organised on February 15, 2024 by the Director, Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation (UD&PA) at the Directorate's Conference Room.
On 18th May, 2024, Graduation Dinner for outgoing students (2021-2024 batch)was held at KV Paradise, Durtlang. Formal session started at 1:00pm hosted by Mr. RD Lalsanglura and Ms Lalmawizuali Khiangte. The programme started with Bible reading and prayer offered by Mrs. Baby Lalramsiami, Head, Department of Education.
The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Mizoram, Pu Zoramthanga inaugurated the newly constructed approach road to Govt. T.Romana College via ITI locality on the 10th February 2023. The road is 485 metres long and financed through the SEDP amounting to Rs. 464.9 lakhs. The construction of the road commenced on 16th January 2021.
Govt. T. Romana College salutes the heroes of Kargil War by celebrating the Silver Jubilee of Kargil Vijay Diwas on 26th July, 2024. The programme was organised by IQAC and National Cadet Corps, GTRC. It was chaired by Mr. Lalsangzela Pachuau, CTO NCC and Wing Commander HL Risanga (Retd.) was invited as a Resource Person. On this occasion, the Resource Person delivered a speech on the history of 'Kargil War' and how the Indian armed forces had corageously fought back against the Pakistani forces who had illegally occupied Kargil.
Govt. T. Romana College Observed World Environment Day 2023 by watering the trees and plants in the campus and adding manure whereever required.
