On the initiative taken by the Department of Sociology, Govt. T.Romana College, an awareness programme on selected schemes under the department was organised on February 15, 2024 by the Director, Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation (UD&PA) at the Directorate's Conference Room.
The programme aims at enlightening the final semester students about the various schemes of urban development which form part of their syllabus.
The first session commenced with a keynote address by Lalsangliani, Deputy Director (Admin), followed by presentations on the National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM) by Mrs. Malsawmdawngliani, State Mission Director, and the Swachh Bharat Mission by Mrs. Lalhruaitluangi, Deputy Director (Hqrs.).
The second session began with a presentation on Housing for All (HFA) and Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) by Mr. B. Lalchhandama, Research Officer, followed by a very lively and interactive technical session which was conducted by Mr. Laldinsanga Hnamte. The awareness programme was attended by 58 final semester students and 6 faculty members. Overall, the awareness training was a valuable learning experience, providing prospective graduates with knowledge that would surely shape their ideas on urban development
Following a beneficial and successful awareness programme with the UD&PA department, the Sociology department, Govt. T. Romana College took the initiative to hold another awareness programme with the Rural Development Department, with the goal of educating students about the various Rural Development Schemes that are part of their syllabus.
