women cell2The Women’s Cell of the college organised an Awareness Programme on Gender Equality on 29 September 2026 at 1:30 P.M. The programme aimed to create greater awareness among students about gender equality, women’s rights, and the importance of collective efforts in building a more equal society.

The programme began with a welcome speech delivered by Dr. Rosy Lalrinsangi, Associate Professor and Chairman of the Women’s Cell, GTRC. This was followed by the presentation of a gift to the resource person by Mrs. Catherine Lalhruaitluangi, Associate Professor and Member of the Women’s Cell.

The resource person, Ms. Lalrammawii Kawilam, Assistant Director, Women and Child Development, addressed the students on the role of men in promoting gender equality. She highlighted the need to challenge and overcome age-old discrimination against women and encouraged students to put forth their best efforts in their studies. She also drew attention to Sustainable Development Goal 5 (SDG 5), which focuses on achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. Lalsangluri Sailo, who reiterated the importance of women asserting their rights in a male-dominated society. She also raised the issue of intra-religious inequality between men and women, including the continuing restrictions faced by women within the Church.

The programme concluded with refreshments and a photo session. The awareness programme provided an important platform for reflection and discussion on gender equality and encouraged students to recognise their role in promoting a more equitable society.
